Book Review: Trafficked

Trafficked:  The upsetting true story of a British girl who was forced into the sex trade.

For my first blog post I thought I would write about one of my favourite books.

Trafficked is a book about one girl's experience in the sex trade, what her journey was like and how she overcame it. Sophie Hayes was a ordinary girl who's only worry was trying to make sure her family was proud of her. She loved to meet up with friends and go clubbing like anyone else her age, so little did she know that on a night out with her friends she would encounter the man who would negatively change her life forever.

 After arguing with her family, having trouble at work and having her previous relationship come to an end, once Sophie was acquainted by a mysterious man on a night out, she thought she had found the answer to her problems.
Sophie instantly fell in love with the charming Albanian going by the name Kas, he was smart, good looking and kind, what wasn't to love? The pair became friends and starting seeing each other, not long after they made their relationship official, Kas wanted and insisted on taking Sophie on a romantic trip to Italy. Sophie couldn't have been more happy, she was travelling, had no stress and was with the man who told her that he loved her dearly;
However after a few days into the trip something changed and Kas' loving touch had turned icy cold. Sophie was confused and wanted to find out why her perfect lover had transformed so quickly, Kas proceeded to fill Sophie in on his debt dilemma that he was tangled in.
She was eager to help him but knew that she didn't have anything near the amount he wanted. Kas' tone was patronizing and belittling as he described the 'favors' he expected her to do 'for love'. in addition soon Sophie’s bewilderment turned to fear as Kas brutally kicked, punched and shouted at her, as well as threatening to kill her loving younger brothers if she didn’t do exactly as she was told. Moreover, she had no choice but to sell herself on the streets. Sophie obeyed every rule as he threatened her repeatedly, she worked seven nights a week and for six months having to pleasure strange unknown men and to suffer with Kas' abuse at 'home'.
Then suddenly, Sophie's body and mind could no longer cope so she then had to be admitted into hospital with stomach pains, she knew that Kas would be furious if he found out, she had no other option but to call her mother against Kas' order, knowing he could kill her and her family, she dared to ring home...But who's gonna reach her first?
